My Eleventh Week

Communication and Employability
We wrote up last weeks blog and continued to finish off work I haven't done

Communication technology
Continued to do the networking powerpoint

Information systems
finished off the code of conduct which is task 5

Spreadsheet modelling
We did absolute cell reference, macros, inserting a webpage, hyperlinks and date functions on microsoft Excel

Computer systems
Carried on doing the tasks we have to finish

Programming
I carried on finishing my game by adjusting some pieces of the code to change the game slightly.

Website Design
In this lesson we continued on practicing how to use dream weaver and worked on our practice websites.

My Tenth Week

Communication and Employability
We had to write up last weeks blog and do any work that wasn't finished

Communication technology
I carried on doing the networking project in this lesson, there is quite a lot left to do yet

Information Systems
In this lesson i began task 5 which is about code of conduct

Spreadsheet modelling
We created a user form in this lesson, it was a form that had pictures of the artists in, with buttons to submit and text boxes to submit what you think or whatever. It automatically submitted the data when we clicked accept and put it onto excel, we had to program this to work

Game Design
In game design I finished off my mood board of my game which included pictures and text.

Computer Systems
In computer systems i got up to task 7 so i am ahead of schedule and hopefully will do task 8 soon so i can be ready for the practical work.

Programming
In this lesson i made my own game on visual basic. The game i made was, you are a panda and the balls fly around the area and hit off the walls, if it hits you it is game over. You can also adjust the size of the area that the game is in to make it harder or easier. Paul helped me with this.

Website Design
We were in the wrong room so it was a catch up lesson to do any work we hadn't done because the room we were in didn't have dreamweaver.

My Ninth Week

Communication and Employability
In this lesson we wrote up last weeks blog and finished any work we have to do.

In this lesson we wrote up about networking, such as things like satellites, infrared, Bluetooth etc.

Information Systems
In this lesson i finished off doing 2.2 and 2.3

We already put together our mood board pictures so we were able to go home

We did a test on Monday and the other day i was absent.

My Eighth Week

Unit 1 - Comms and Emp
I started working on the 800 word task, What employers want.

Unit 10 - Communication Technology
We wrote up about social networking. We also found out about social networking, blogs, etc. We also did a practical which was linking the Bluetooth to a computer and sending a file.

Unit 3 - Information Systems
We did about the code of conduct, (Use of email, use of the internet)

Unit 42 - Spreadsheet Modelling
In excel we did the nested If statement, and also about conditional formatting.

Unit 40 - Game Design
In this lesson we created a mood board about the game that we had to come up with, we had to post pictures in PowerPoint, pictures about what the game play would be like, along with graphics and visual style, also themes.

Unit 2 - Computer Systems
In this lesson we carried on with the unit we have to complete.

Unit 6 - Programming
In this lesson we created a program that makes a ball bounce off each wall of the screen, and it could change direction slightly every time.

Unit 28 - Website Design
In this lesson we created a pamphlet about the internet, such as cloud computing, social networking, etc.

My Seventh Week

We started our assignment brief, and we started some various formulas on excel such as sum, average, CountIf, etc.

In information systems we made a document about what is good data/information, for example what is cost effective, what is valid, etc. It was about how they collect the information.

We continued to try and  finish our tasks that had been set for us.

Paul was doing interviews so we didn't do anything.

My Fifth Week

Advanced Spreadsheets (Unit 42) - Tom
In this lesson we used the What-If analysis in Microsoft Excel. Under the What-If analysis you can use the Scenario Manager and the Goal seek tool. Goal Seek is used when you have a set ammount of numbers, and you want to change a few of the numbers around, it tells you how you can do this. For example, if you had a budget of how much you were spending, and you wanted to cut the final cost, the Goal Seek will create a different scenario you could impliment  into the real thing saying a way you could get to your goal. We also used Scenario Manager where it sets out the data in a form and it is easier to read.

Programming (Unit 6) - Paul
In Programming we created a calculator using visual studio, we had to add buttons, text boxes and text. We programmed it so if you add a number into one box, and a number into the other box, you click the button at the bottom to display the final answer, we only made it so it could add numbers though.

Website Design (Unit 28) - Waquas
In this lesson we were writing up about hacking and security, how people can get into your computer and what they can do once they are in, and also how you can protect it, such as anti virus or firewalls.

Information Systems (Unit 3) - Tom

We started the first task in this lesson, it involved looking at devices, input and output. And I wrote up about some devices such as keyboards and mice

My Fourth Week

Advanced Spreadsheets (Unit 42)

Programming (Unit 6)
In programming we created a program by ourselves, with some instructions/guidelines on a sheet of paper to help us do it. The program was made to store a first and last name, also an age. It was made so that if you were under 16, a message would be displayed saying you are too young, if you were 16 or older, a message would appear saying you were old enough.
Website Design (Unit 28)
In this lesson we had to write up more about things related to the internet, such as email, web browsers, protocols etc.
Information Systems (Unit 3)
In Information Systems we learnt what DFD means and we had to create a few of them so we understand what they are, we had to do a few of them for an assignment.

Computer Systems (Unit 2)

Games Design (Unit 40)
We had a look at different types of games and their graphics to see what the difference is and how they have changed over the years, depending on what platform it is on it makes a big difference, because different types of consoles/computers can display much better graphics than others. We also had a look at some graphic software, such as blender, Daz 3D, etc.

My Third Week

In this lesson we created another program using Visual Basic. It was similar to our last program, we placed some text boxes down, and also some buttons. We created a system where it stores a name and then once you click the display button it displays the message

Website Design (Unit 28)
We created a flow chart in web design showing the process of how you can access a website online. We also had to write about different ISP'S (Internet Service Providers) and also write about what other services they offer.
Information Systems (Unit 3)
We we given a few forms and were told to write about then, for example how effective they were, the good and bad points and any other information that we could think of.
Computer Systems (Unit 2)

We only talked about upcoming work because we had to finish early because of parents evening.

My Second Week

Advanced Spreadsheets (Unit 42)
In this lesson we created a chart designed to be a shopping list, with a list of items and prices. We used the technique in excel V look up to create a box where you type in a number in the list and it tells you how much the item is, which saves you from looking down the list for an item price. We also went over the IF statement again and implimented it into some of the work.

Programming (Unit 6)
We started to use the software Visual Studio, which is a Programming piece of software which allows you execute certain things, such as make a text box and button that can be clicked and typed into. We dragged a textbox and button onto the canvas and adjusted it to thye size we wanted, then Paul showed us the code to enter into Visual Studio, which made it so when type someones name in and hit enter, their name will come up followed by a message we programmed earlier. The final message would pop up and look something like "James is really cool" or "James is amazing", etc.

Website Design (Unit 28)
In this lesson we had to research a bunch of things, such as Domain names, web servers, web hosting. We had to go online and find out what they all are and do. We also had to find out the difference between "The internet" and the "World Wide Web" (WWW). The internet is a massive network of networks, many WAN's make up the internet. The World Wide Web is a massive information sharing system, where people can send and recieve files over it.

Information Systems (Unit 3)
We were looking at different businesses and different hierarchy's of businesses to see how they are structured, also different parts of a business and what they do, such as Management, Senior Management, Finances, Sales, Human Resources, Operations, Marketing, IT, Admin, etc. They all have their own departments what help the company, for example the Finance department handle all the money that comes in and goes out, they also see if they are going over their budget or not.

Computer Systems (Unit 2)
In this lesson we focusaed on the hardware of the computer, what makes it run, what stores the memory, what the "brain" of the computer is. We had to go online and research the different words Waquas put up on the board, they were pieces of hardware in a computer, such as a CPU (Central Processing Unit), HDD (Hard Drive Disk), Motherboard, RAM (Random Access Memory), a Control Unit, ALU, etc. All these things make up a computer and we had to find out what they all did. At the end i had a basic understanding of all the components inside a computer.

Games Design (Unit 40)
I handed my report in on Mincraft the computer game, with things on it including graphics, gameplay and multiplayer tabs. We were looking at the visusal styles of games online and how they are different, games such as Skyrim (>: D) which isn't out yet but we reviewed the graphics and gameplay of it. We also had a look at some other games online and had a look at the difference in the visual style.

My first Week

The first day i started a number of subjects

Advanced spreadsheets -
We had to talk about what you can do in excel, such as sums, charts, etc. We also had to create a chart based on sales of a regional team. We also used the IF statement to figure out if people were old enough to have a free buss pass or not.

Programming -
In Programming we were getting taught the fundamentals of Programming and how it works, for example you have to tell the computer everything to do exactly how you want it as it cannot make decisions by itself. We practised writing a programming code out on Microsoft word. We were asked to write out a programming code to make a robot make a piece of toast.

Website Design -
In Website Design we were taught how to format documents to make them appear more professional. This included adding things like the author of a book, date, tile, etc. Also adding headers and footers makes it so it is present on every page instead of adding them on each individual page.

Information Systems -
We were learning about different hierarchy and ranks in a company. For example... Admin, Management and Senior Management. We were also taught what the difference between Data and Information is. Data is raw facts and figures, and information is something that has been processed and we understand it.

Computer Systems -
In this lesson we were taught the difference between the different connections through the internet, such as LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network). Out Tutor told us how a network works and that everything is interwined.

Game Design -
In this elsson we talked about the different types of games that are out there and the different dimentions that are used in a game. We were given homework to do, to play a game and then wruite a report on it, involving graphics, gameplawy and any other points that we might come up with.
